Introduction
This Privacy Policy explains how Stichting IPRO (Foundation International Publishers Rights Organisation) processes personal data of authors and contact persons.

Processing and type of personal data


Authors

With regard to authors, IPRO processes the title of the publication, ISBN or ISSN and the fees collected for the use of the publication. 

The purpose of this processing is the collection and payment of copyright fees for the use of scientific publications in education.

For the purpose of distributing copyright fees to copyright holders, Stichting IPRO also processes the name, telephone number, business relation number and email address of the contact person at the receiving organisation.

The legal basis for processing these personal data is IPRO's legitimate interest in executing the agreement it has with the receiving organisation, so that copyright fees can be collected and paid. In doing so, Stichting IPRO processes only those personal data necessary to identify the relevant author/contact person for the purposes of collection and payment.


Website visitors

IPRO uses necessary cookies only on the IPRO website (https://www.ipro.nu). A cookie is a simple small text file that can be stored on your device when visiting the website. This text file identifies your browser and/or device. Necessary cookies help make a website usable by enabling basic functions like page navigation and access to secure areas of the website. The website cannot function properly without these cookies. All other type of cookies have been disabled unless you change the cookie settings accordingly. Storage terms
Personal data concerning collection and distribution are retained by Stichting IPRO in accordance with Dutch tax legislation for a period of 7 years after the year to which the compensation relates.

Stichting IPRO retains the personal data of contact persons at receiving organisations for as long as the contact person concerned works in that capacity at the receiving organisation and until 1 year after this person has left that employment or no longer functions in the capacity of IPRO contact person.

Security
Stichting IPRO has taken appropriate security measures to limit misuse of and unauthorised access to data. Access to the data is limited to persons who, by virtue of their position, must be able to see it. Access is protected and the security measures are checked regularly.

Provision of personal data to third parties
Stichting IPRO provides personal data to third parties for the following purposes:

• to collecting societies and publishers for the purpose of distributing copyright fees to rightsholders

• to a competent authority in order to fulfil a legal obligation of Stichting IPRO

• to Stichting UvO (Foundation Implementation of Educational Licences) and third parties engaged by it to assist in the billing and collection of copyright fees

• to other service providers such as IT services providers.

Some distributors and publishers are based in the United States. Therefore, in this event, Stichting IPRO will send personal data to the United States to give effect to the agreement between the author and the publisher and/or the distribution organisation. This third party will be able to inform you further about the protection of your personal data in the United States.


Your privacy rights
In accordance with the Dutch General Data Protection Regulation (AVG, Algemene Verordening Gegevensbescherming ), you can ask to see your personal data that Stichting IPRO processes. You have the right to object to the use of your data by Stichting IPRO. You have the right to request rectification or removal of your personal data. You can also ask Stichting IPRO to transfer your personal data to another data controller.
